UKA-09
(eng: The Week) is the largest cultural festival in Norway and is hosted by Studentersamfundet, the student society in Trondheim every other year.
The money making back spine of the festival is it's traditional theatre/show, shown almost every day of the 25 day long festival is this year named "Skabaré".
The name resembles cabaret (the show type), the Norwegian expression "skabare" (eng: I'll just ...), scarab (the beautiful beetle) and "Skabb-Are" (mocking of a guy named Are). A lot of interpretations in other words.
Anyways. Yesterday, Synnøve, Andreas and I had managed to get some cheap tickets to this Must-See-Show. Unfortunately the show got cancelled due to to see this must see show. Excited! Unfortunately the show got cancelled and no other cheap tickets are available!
No show today ...
I'm determined to see the show, so I've bought myself an expensive ticket for Friday's show. This time I'm going with Jon, so let's hope we're in more luck than Andreas, Synnøve and I ...
PS. I couldn't find a picture of the show, so I had to go for Jay-Z who performed at UKA-09 a few weeks ago :)
Google Wave tryout

The past two days I've been trying out Google Wave, Google's new collaborative, real-time communation platform.
According to Google, "Google Wave is what email would be if it was invented today."
SO, WHAT IS GOOGLE WAVE?
Instead of the email system where all users receive an individual copy of a mail all users share the same messages, or Waves as it is called - hosted on a central server. Everyone can reply to or even edit the original Wave. Additionally one can add interactive elements as gadgets (ie. maps, polls etc.).
These features - and the fact that everyone can see what the others are doing in real-time makes Google Wave a very powerful collaboration tool. Contacts can literally be dragged into the conversation/Wave as it evolves.
Google has even implemented a Playback functionality, making it possible to see how the Wave has evolved from start to finish. This is very useful if a large number of users edit the same Wave.
Google Wave is still not completed and have several flaws. Google Wave is currently in a Preview stage, and an invitation is necessary to try it out.
I am convinced that it will become a very popular tool for planning projects, chatting and information sharing when it is made available to everyone.
Hopefully it (or a similar service) will take over for today's outdated emailing system.
If you want to see more, I suggest you take a look at Mashable's Complete guide to Google Wave and Google's own 10 minute Google Wave Overview.
Forgetting how to blog
Good times are the sequence of moments (CC by-nc-nd 2.0)
It's been such a long time since I last wrote a blog post, so long that I think I've completely forgot how to do it.
A lot has of course happened since last time, but I'll limit myself to telling about the the three main things that's happened the past couple of weeks.
Weekend 41:
Fadia and Malena visisted Synnøve, Kristian and me here in Trondheim. We had a great time - good food, hiking and general fun! We also saw "Up!", the new Pixar animation film. One to watch! No kidding. An absolutely awesome film!
Weekend 42:
Cate visiting (still visiting Synnøve, Kristian and me)! We attended Trønderfest (Trønder party - people from the region are called Trønder's). I definitely had a fun time - we all did!
That's the short version of our fun, now I'll complain a bit: My back hurts! I managed to "dislocate" it (feels like it) during the weekend with Fadia and Malena, so it's been slow weeks. I'm hoping it'll all be better soon.
School summary:
Project is progressing, the same goes for the Spanish and Nanomaterial classes too!
